30 hours to 30 minutes: how Odigo built its way out of the Friday afternoon ask

Anyone who has run an agency knows the Friday afternoon ask. A good client emails one more request, and before you’ve finished reading, you’re already working out who has room for it and what gets pushed to make that room. The Odigo Group is a partner marketing agency with a lean team and a full account list, so we did that math a lot, and it rarely came out in our favor. Eventually we stopped trying to make the numbers work and built ContentGen® instead.

We sell ContentGen® to other partner marketing agencies now, but we built it for ourselves first. We wanted to give clients more without stretching their budgets or burning out our team, and if we’re being honest, we wanted to stop bracing for that Friday email. These days it’s just another request. Of everything ContentGen® changed for us, that’s the one I notice most.

Where the volume actually is

A campaign’s big idea gets most of the attention, but it’s a small share of the work. The rest is banners, one-pagers, email headers, and social carousels — the supporting pieces every campaign needs. None of it can be sloppy. It has to match the brand and ship quickly, and for years it took about as long to produce as the strategic work did, even though it was never what our team was best at. With ContentGen®, a request that used to take a full day is usually done before lunch. I’ve watched that happen across our accounts, and I still get a little thrill every time.

It’s also changed what we can offer. Because production no longer takes over the week, we can take on more accounts without hiring. Clients come out ahead, too. The budget and hours they used to spend on routine banners and one-pagers can go toward the campaigns that bring in pipeline.

Design comes built in

When people hear “AI content platform,” they usually picture something that only writes copy. But the ContentGen® templates were built by our creative team, and they reflect years of watching which decks, banners, and one-pagers work in partner marketing. We load a client’s palette, logo, and fonts once, and that branding carries across every template in the library. A partner’s colors show up correctly on a banner, a one-pager, a social carousel, and a sales deck, and nobody has to open each file and apply it by hand.

The files aren’t locked once they’re exported, either. Every deliverable comes out as an editable source file, so if a client wants to tweak a headline or swap an image later, they don’t have to wait on us. They can simply open it and make the change themselves.

The moment that stuck with me

Our CEO has been in partner marketing for more than 25 years. After we reviewed a recent pilot with a cybersecurity partner marketing program, she told me something I haven’t stopped thinking about. In all that time, she had never seen a partner approve a deliverable without asking for a single change to the messaging or the design. This partner did, on a campaign built entirely in ContentGen®. They’ve since renewed and added more licenses.

Why this doesn’t scare me

People tend to assume a tool like this makes designers nervous, that it’s one more AI product lined up to replace us. For me, it’s worked out the other way. ContentGen® takes the everyday template work off my plate: the last-minute LinkedIn banner, the deck that gets reworked after every call, the fifth version of a one-pager because the messaging changed. Again.

That leaves me more time for the parts of the job I trained for and love. I get to be in the strategy conversations with clients and teammates, and I get to work on the campaigns that need a real design point of view, where the creative is built around one client’s specific moment. I’m also learning new tools and pushing my own work further, and I can do that knowing what ContentGen® produces for my clients is solid and ready for market. Honestly, that’s more than most designers expect from an AI tool.

The numbers, because I’m a spec person

I don’t trust a tool until I’ve seen the before and after. Here’s ours:

  • Writing time on messaging frameworks: 30 hours down to about 30 minutes

  • Design time on templates used as-is: cut by 99%

  • Review cycles: down 67%, from two writing passes and one design pass to a single round

Bespoke campaign creative is still built by hand, the same as always. These numbers are about the repeatable production work, the kind that filled our week but never needed a strategist. Getting that time back is what freed me up for the strategy and creative work I described above.

What a live demo showed me

We just spent PartnerIn’s Vibe 2.0 in Provo running ContentGen® live out of a demo station for a room full of partner agencies, and the same question came up at nearly every stop:

How is this actually different from building these deliverables yourself with a generic AI tool? The answer is simple — we already did the prompting for you.

Getting one of those tools to produce something usable takes real skill and a dozen rounds of back-and-forth, even for people who are good at it. ContentGen® skips past all of that, so a visitor could watch it generate a full messaging framework and dozens of deliverables, already tested by our strategy team against what actually converts in partner marketing. All in the time it took them to grab a coffee. It turned skeptics into believers every time.
